Alpine Days 5k and Kids Race

The kids and Jonny headed out to this race, where they met Myra, Rudi and David. I was at home getting ready to drive to the NICU when I decided to leave sooner and hit up Alpine to cheer on my runners. (I was aiming to get to Provo for the babies' 10:00 cares, so I had time.) They were surprised to see me and I was so happy to be there to welcome Jonny in and watch my little friends in their race. I was still very sore from the twins' birth so I was definitely a spectator during all of it. But I was so glad to still be a part of a favorite traditional race. Go Team Rejholec!

Temple to Temple 5k

I can't wait to run this one. Jonny reported that it was an awesome event. There were thousands of people running, walking, and strolling from the old Provo Temple to the new Provo City Center Temple. And as you can see, it was a pretty darn fast race for Jonny. New PR!

Pony Express Days 5k (Cupcake Charity Run)

Jonny said this race had a much smaller turnout than past years, but he still ran super fast and placed 2nd man overall. We were surprised that the race began right on time so the kids and I were there too late to cheer him across the finish line! The kids ran around the block with the Chick-Fil-A cow (a big highlight for Gabe) and ate cupcakes at the end. Evy and I were the cheerleaders. Plus, the twins were doing celebratory kicks and somersaults in my tummy :)

Durango 5-Mile Turkey Trot

Melody (38:31, and the course was changed this year so it was actually 4.8 miles.)

As always, this was a challenging course for me. Seriously, it is mostly uphill. But it was a beautiful morning and I was so happy to be starting the day with a good, hard run. Unfortunately Jonny didn't run it since he hurt his knee a few weeks ago. But he was there with some kids to cheer me on! 

Eagle Mountain North Stake 5k

Our ward still reigns as champion of this stake 5k. Go Eagle's Gate 1st! We really like this course and often run it as a good 3 mile workout. I came in as the first women overall and Jonny was ??????????????

Alpine Days 5k

I am writing about this months later, but I believe Jonny was first in his age group and so was I. We love this race and this year was no exception. The kids look forward to it. Thanks to Katy who watched the kids at the park while we ran. And thanks to Mom for the whole wheat pancakes at her house afterward!

Timp Half Marathon

Jonny (1:33:25) 10th in age division of 85, 45th overall men out of 400ish
Melody (1:41:30) 8th in age division of 134, 72nd woman overall out of 900ish

This was a hard race! We trained well enough and felt prepared, but both of us were just dead afterward! Not sure why, the course is very similar to the AF Canyon one, mostly downhill. Yes, we enjoyed it, and were very glad we did it together. But it wasn't easy. Not that half marathons ever are, especially at the paces we were running. I was thrilled that I came in under my goal of 1:45. (Not sure that I will ever get my 2011 half PR again, I certainly wasn't shooting for it this race.) Anyway, it was fun to have my Alma Mater welcome me in. And I was very surprised at how good the Chick-Fil-A nugget samples tasted after a race. We had to eat there for dinner!
